Your relationship with God, your spouse, your family and everyone else. from Gospel Assembly Church on Vimeo.
Welcome to the Des Moines Gospel Assembly website. This ministry of our church is designed to help us fulfill the Divine commission to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom.
Our Church is located at the corners of 72nd and Meredith Streets in Urbandale, Iowa. We are a group of blood-bought, Spirit-filled Christians who believe passionately in the mission of restoring the message and order of the New Testament church.
We are looking forward to this meeting with great anticipation. In the last several years the Lord has been reuniting His people into one body, with the ministry striving to allow Christ to be the Head of His Church. World conditions constrain us to believe that Christ must come closer to His children and manifest Himself to them. We do not know what will transpire in this meeting, but we do expect there to be a richness of the Word of God as well as the Spirit of God. We invite you to come and be a partaker of God’s blessings with us.

The annual convention in Des Moines has ended and was a success! Thank you to all those who attended and those who worked faithfully. Ministers and saints from around the world gathered together to worship the Lord in spirit and in truth. We saw the Lord continue to heal the body and do a work in His ministry. Watch for a more in-depth report in the next issue of our newsletter which will be available soon.
The Des Moines Gospel Assembly invites you to attend and worship with us this memorial day weekend, May 26 – 28. God is bringing His people together again, fulfilling Christ\’s prayer, “Father, make them one, even as You and I are one.” Come and partake of the Word of God, the Spirit of God, and the rich fellowship of God\’s people.
We are pleased to announce the opening of the Gospel Assembly International Seminary and Bible School. Classes will begin in January, 2004. Both on-campus and off-campus correspondence courses will be available.
Initially, three religious degrees will be offered: Associate of Practical Theology (Th. A.), Bachelors of Theology (Th. B.), and Master of Theology (Th. M.). Courses will be offered in five departments: Theology, Bible Studies, Church Administration, Religious History, and Christian Counseling.
For tuition and admissions information, as well as a handbook containing course descriptions, faculty information, etc., please contact us.
We have felt it necessary to establish a Seminary and Bible School. We realize that such formal education cannot substitute for the calling of God to preach. The great apostles, prophets and ministers of the Bible and history did not attend any formal educational programs. Yet there were schools of the prophets.
We have not sought, nor will we seek, secular accreditation. We offer these courses for ministers and saints in the Body of Christ, to gain more knowledge of God’s Word, and to assist overseas ministers to establish the credibility of their ministry with their governmental agencies.
The Associate of Practical Theology degree program will consist of 12 courses of five credit hours each. Those taking these courses by correspondence will be able to work at their own pace, although it is anticipated that the program will take approximately two years to complete. An additional 12 courses will be required for the awarding of the Bachelor of Theology degree; and eight more courses plus a thesis will be needed to earn the degree of Master of Theology.
All courses will be developed and prepared by faculty who are members of the Body of Christ. To the fullest extent possible, textbooks will be authored by ministers of the gospel in the Body of Christ.
The Body of Christ is on the move and wonderful things are happening. Prophecies are being fulfilled. Ministers from around the world will be attending this convention, and we expect the Spirit of God to be rich.
If your heart is hungry for God, and for fellowship with God’s precious people, we urge you to come expecting God to meet your needs. We invite everyone to partake of God’s blessing with us during Memorial Day weekend.
For additional information, contact us. Also, more information is available on the church and local hotels. May God bless you!
Outward appearances mean much to man, but nothing to God. This profound Bible truth is stated in the Old Testament: “But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth: for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7.
While man places great value on things that reflect his material status, God desires that we seek inward purity, an honorable character, and spiritual nobility.
Man may glory in his ancestry and family background. But this does not impress God.
Man may delight in his physical prowess, mental skills, or social prestige. Again, God is not impressed.
The finest clothes, the newest automobiles, the most luxuriously furnished homes, and the most beautifully landscaped yards are definite symbols to man of his material success. yet these contribute nothing to his standing before God.
Human learning, higher education, and higher and higher academic degrees may exalt the wisdom of man. man’s spiritual rank before God, however, is not determined by his intellectual development or amount of formal schooling.
No, the Lord does not see as man sees. The Lord is concerned with man’s humility, not pride; his character, not reputation; his sacrifice, not wealth; his service to others, not preeminence over others; his spirituality, not physical attractiveness or strength of body; his brotherly love, not ancestral stock; and his devotion to the teachings of Christ, and not clothes or automobiles or homes or furniture or college degrees or fame.
Pride indeed is the deadliest and most destructive of all sins. The Bible teaches that the “proud in heart” are an abomination to the Lord. Proverbs 16:5.
We may impress ourselves and other with material success, but they become mere flimsy veneer before the powerful, penetrating eye of Almighty God, from whom nothing is hidden – “for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.”
True conversion to Jesus Christ is based on conviction – not convenience. Likewise, faithfulness to Christ is based on conviction – not convenience.
It is a sad spectacle, therefore, to observe so many professed believers in Christ who are following Jesus according to convenience rather than conviction. The tragic part about it is that such church members are not truly converted to the Lord, because if they were really converted on the basis of their conviction they would faithfully obey Christ out of the same conviction.
Somewhere along the way, somehow, these casual church members have led themselves to believe that while Christianity in theory represents their religious profession, it is optional whether they practice it or not. Such have been deceived into believing there is an easy, comfortable and convenient way to Heaven. They have never soberly meditated upon the far-reaching implications of statements made by Jesus, such as: “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me” (Luke 9:23).
Self-denial is essential to true discipleship; further, it must be a daily relationship with the Lord – not seasonal. His will must be paramount in the Christian’s heart – above every earthly consideration, whether it be family, health, finances, occupations, or pleasure (Luke 14:26-33). It was this demanding call for self-sacrifice that led many disciples of Christ to turn away from the Master. They thought his teachings too hard (John 6:60-66). They were not willing to pay the price of true discipleship.
Likewise, today many are unwilling to pay the price of true discipleship. For example, worship has ceased to be a privilege and has become a burden to many. When the time comes for the saints to assemble for worship, it is inconvenient to turn off the television set and leave the comforts of a nice, cozy home. Yes, from the purely selfish viewpoint, it is inconvenient – just as a daily religion is more inconvenient for selfish people that a seasonal religion.
The founder of the Faith, Jesus Christ, did not find the path to Calvary’s mountain easy or comfortable or convenient. No, Jesus suffered “leaving us an example, that we should follow in His steps” (1 Peter 2:21). If the Master’s Way was demanding, challenging, hard, costly, and self-denying, those who follow in His steps should not expect a soft, convenient and unchallenging way.
Our Lord never taught or practiced a half-hearted, watered-down, spineless, inoffensive, faith-only religion. It is time for all believers to realize that Christ is the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him (Hebrews 5:8, 9) and who live dedicated lives of faithful service to His honor and glory even unto death (Revelation 2:10).
When faith works by love, service is not inconvenient nor burdensome: “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments; and his commandments are not grievous” (1 John 5:3). “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30).
