The Slave, the Ear and the Doorpost

January 14th, 2008 | Permalink

In the old testament, the tradition of the slave that voluntarily chose servitude was marked by having an awl thrust through his ear to the doorpost of his master. In this message, Rev. Glenn Goodwin expounds on how, even today, many people are choosing spiritual slavery instead of the freedom that God has provided his people.

There are many wonderful amazing stories in the Bible about some great men of God. David, Abraham, Moses, Elijah, and the list goes on of men who were used greatly of the Lord. Yet in the New Testament, Jesus called John the Baptist the greatest man to have lived.

What made John the Baptist such a great man? In the Bible he is not described as some spectacular star, but rather a man whose greatness came because he pointed others to Christ. Listen today as we explore the story of John and how living a life that makes way for Jesus is the greatness God is looking for in His people.

Christmas Message 2006

December 24th, 2006 | Permalink

We have all heard the wonderful story of Jesus’ birth. Yet, today’s culture has added so many rituals, traditions, and stories that have nothing to do with Christ. At this time of year, people remember that Jesus was sent to earth, however he was probably not even born in the winter season. When and why did people start celebrating the birth of Christ? Have we as a nation always taken time in December to think back on the day of Christ’s birth? What do the Scriptures say about celebrating this day? What is the real story of the man called Saint Nicholas?

Join Brother Glenn Goodwin as he chronicles the concept of Christmas and all its traditions throughout history. Knowing the truths that surround this holiday can help you to truly appreciate and find true joy in the fact that God did send His son to save his people from their sins.
